genie garage door opens, but we must keep pressing the button to disconnect. whats wrong?
garage door is about 3 years age, opens very well with the remote and the button on the wall, but when closed, only works with the button on the wall (and should continue until that goes all the way down.) which is a pain in the A @ @ because you have to return their cart to pass through the door to close it and go all the way back outside. i dont have money to buy a new one. (Oh, and Ive already purchased and installed new electronic eyes) didn't work. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I can only open the door by holding down the button on the wall. When the sensors infrared are malfunctioning, usually one of the sensor lights will be flashing. The problem is that either due to a blocked road between sensors, eyes, dirty, cables at the sensors or head motor, sensors, or simply bad. The transmitters (remote controls) will not work to close the garage door. You will find that the only door that moves a centimeter or less in the narrow sense and vice versa. When this happens, the garage door will close just holding the button wall, or wall of the console, until the door closes completely. This method is the only way to override the safety and close the door. To try to correct the problem, ensure that the eyes of the sensors are clean, the cable connections are securely fastened at the sensors and the engine head, and eyes are directed the each other. Also, try unplugging the garage door opener and reconnect the unit to the outlet. This acts as a restoration and can restore the sensors. If nothing work, you may have to replace the sensors. You can find new sensors on our website in the category section or going directly to the infrared sensors. I hope this does it for you.
